The hunt is on for the person or persons responsible for the heinous act of removing a pit bull puppy’s ears and one of her legs.
Since the discovery of the injured pup, she has been cared for at My Pets Vet after the Nassau County SPCA brought her there in September.
The pup, whose been named “Miss Harper,” is in need of surgeries and a permanent home.
Anyone who can help with raising funds and finding this pup a loving home is asked to do so. The Nassau County SPCA will hold a press conference at 11:30 a.m. on Thursday, January 30th at My Pets Vet in Huntington. The address is 448 West Jericho Turnpike.
“We are asking the public and animal lovers to help us in our efforts to raise funds for the needed surgeries and care that this poor puppy faces,” said Detective Robert Sowers, a spokesperson for the Nassau County SPCA.
Detective Sowers also added, “We have been working with the New York State Attorney General’s Office and there is an ongoing criminal investigation into who is responsible for this puppy’s condition.”

Update – January 31, 2014 – The Nassau PBA announced that it would donate up to $5,000 to Miss Harper’s medical expenses, but there is more work to be done.
