Floral Park is an incorporated village in the towns of Hempstead and North Hempstead in Nassau County, New York. The community is served by the Sewanhaka Central High School District.
Some reports indicate that early on the community was known as Plainfield, Hempstead Plains and Hinsdale, and the present-day village was known as East Hinsdale. The introduction of the Long Island Railroad to the area in the 1870’s connected the farms and small villages that made up the area. After the civil war there were more than two dozen flower farms in Hinsdale. The local post office took the name Floral Park, and the Long Island Railroad changed the station’s name to match in 1888. The village was incorporated in 1908.
According to the 2010 census, the population of Floral Park is 26,883. The median household income is listed as $89,200.
