Man Arrested for Removing Cash from Islamic Center's Charity Box on Christmas and New Year's Day
Hewlett, NY - January 2, 2016 - The Fourth Squad reports an arrest on Sunday, January 1, 2017 at 6:18 p.m. for a Burglary that occurred in Hewlett.
According to detectives, Huzaifa Shafeeq, 22, of Valley Stream entered Five Towns Islamic Center, located at 437 Hamilton Avenue, through a window on Sunday, December 25, 2016 and again on January 1, 2017 and removed an undisclosed amount of cash from a charity box. He was placed under arrest at his home without incident.
Shafeeq is charged with two counts of Burglary 3rd degree and will be arraigned on Monday, January 2, 2017 at First District Court in Hempstead.
