ARMY PFC PHILLIPS - THERE'S NO PLACE LIKE HOME FOR THE HOLIDAYS

Written by Fran  |  06. January 2012

Mastic Beach, New York - William Floyd elementary students, Adele and Hayley, were very surprised to see their dad PFC Adam Phillips walk into a classroom at the John S. Hobart Elementary School on December 22, 2011. Eight months ago, he enlisted in the Army. This was his first visit back home. Because Adele is in kindergarten and Hayley is a third grader, the classroom teachers created a special situation so the kindergarten and third grade students would be together to discuss how families sometimes were apart because of distance or job responsibilities. When, what to Adele and Hayley's wondering eyes did appear, but their dad, home from the Army, all dressed in his Army gear. It was a touching moment. Both daughters were speechless. They just wanted to hug their dad. PFC Phillips said, "It's good to be home. And, even though it's only for a short period of time, I will love every minute of it because I'm with my girls."
