Fifth Squad Detectives report the details of a Serious Vehicular Accident that occurred on Saturday, January 6, 2024 at 3:44 pm in Valley Stream.
According to detectives, a female, 98, was operating a 2023 Mercedes-Benz southbound on Hungry Harbor Road prior to making a left turn onto Brookfield Road. The vehicle collided with a 2005 Nissan traveling northbound on Hungry Harbor Road. The Mercedes-Benz then struck a tree on Brookfield Road.
The operator suffered severe trauma to both lower legs. Officers responded and rendered
immediate life-saving first aide by placing tourniquets on both lower legs to stop excessive bleeding. She was transported to an area hospital and is listed in stable condition.
The female operator, 24, of the Nissan remained at the scene and was not injured.
The investigation is ongoing.
