The 8 th Squad reports the arrest of a Levittown man for an Assault that
occurred on Saturday, January 4, 2025 at 3:45 PM in Levittown.
According to detectives, officers responded to a disturbance on Hempstead
Turnpike in the vicinity of Berger Avenue. Officers determined that a 59 year old
male victim, while seated in his vehicle, was involved in an argument with a male
that was walking by. The male kicked the victim’s door, then produced a knife and
stabbed him in the abdomen when the victim exited his vehicle. The male then fled
from the scene on foot. The victim was taken to an area hospital in stable condition.
After a thorough investigation, detectives located the Defendant, Richard
Avolin, 36, of 48 Longfellow Avenue. He was arrested without incident at his
residence.
Defendant Richard Avolin is charged with Assault 1 st Degree, Criminal
Possession of a Weapon 4 th Degree and Criminal Mischief 3 rd Degree. He will be
arraigned on Tuesday, January 7, 2025 at First District Court, 99 Main Street,
Hempstead.
