Baldwin Woman Faces Multiple Charges for DWI with Minors in Vehicle

The Public Information Office reports the arrest of a Baldwin woman for DWI -Leandra’s Law that occurred on Sunday, January 7, 2024 at 6:20 pm in Baldwin.
 
According to police, officers responded to a 911 call for a DWI at Wendy’s located at 690 Sunrise Highway. Officers located a 2021 Toyota being operated by a female. Officer activated their emergency lights and conducted an investigation.
 
It was determined that Johanna Gonzalez, 39, was driving under the influence of drugs. An eight-year-old female, 2 twelve-year-old males and 2 thirteen-year-old females were inside the vehicle. The five juveniles were all released to relatives.
 
Defendant Gonzalez is charged with Driving While Ability Impaired, five (5) counts of Driving While Intoxicated (Child under 16), three (3) counts of Criminal Possession of a Controlled Substance 7 th Degree, five (5) counts of Endangering the Welfare of a Child and multiple VTL violations. She will be arraigned on Monday, January 8, 2024 at First District Court,  Hempstead.
