This morning, an alarming situation unfolded at Newbridge Road School in North Bellmore, leading to a temporary lockout of the school. Officials report that the incident was a result of a swatting call—a dangerous form of harassment where emergency services are falsely alerted to an non-existent crisis.

The incident began with a 911 call reporting a male with a firearm and possible gunfire at the school. Responding swiftly, local police units arrived at the school, which was put on lockdown as a precautionary measure. In an effort to ensure the safety of students and staff, the police conducted a thorough search of the school using various department resources.

After a comprehensive investigation, authorities determined that the incident was a swatting hoax, and the emergency call was baseless. Swatting is a malicious act where individuals mislead emergency services into responding to a fabricated crisis, often resulting in significant resource deployment and public concern.

Thankfully, district officials have confirmed that all students and staff at Newbridge Road School are safe. As a precautionary step, other schools in the district were also briefly placed on lockout, but they have since resumed normal operations.

In the wake of this incident, police are actively seeking information from the public. Anyone with relevant information is encouraged to reach out to Crime Stoppers at 1-800-244-TIPS. The authorities are committed to investigating this serious matter and ensuring the continued safety of the community.
