Masterworks Concert is an annual faculty recital by the professionally trained music instructors of the Children's Orchestra Society (COS). The audience this year will be treated to familiar classics, such as a Mozart horn quintet, a Beethoven string quartet, a Mendelssohn piano trio, and Albeniz for solo guitar, while songs from the Visaya region of the Philippines will highlight the experience. "Our faculty is devoted to developing young talent," explains Executive Director Yeou-Cheng Ma, "yet they hunger to express themselves through their art. The COS Masterworks Concert is an opportunity to showcase our faculty while bringing lively music to the community."
The Masterworks Concert begins at 7:30 PM, and tickets are $15 in advance or $18 at the door; a discount is offered for groups of four and can be purchased at the Children's Orchestra Society website: http://www.childrensorch.org/index.php?pID=32.
Families in New York city, Long Island and the tri-state area have been involved with Children's Orchestra Society since it was founded in 1962 by Dr. H.T. Ma. Today, COS provides music programs for the youngest learner through advanced students interested in high caliber performance opportunities.
