FLASH FLOOD WARNING REMAINS IN EFFECT UNTIL 545 PM EDT THIS AFTERNOON FOR NORTHEASTERN NASSAU AND WEST CENTRAL SUFFOLK COUNTIES At 351 PM EDT, Doppler radar and automated rain gauges indicated thunderstorms producing heavy rain across the warned area. Between 1 and 3 inches of rain have fallen. The expected rainfall rate is 1 to 2 inches in 1 hour. Flooding impacts will continue, but no additional rainfall is expected. Flash flooding is ongoing or expected to begin shortly. HAZARD...Flash flooding caused by thunderstorms. SOURCE...Radar and automated gauges. The Arson Bomb Squad reports the arrest of a Locust Valley woman for a Fire that occurred on Friday, January 26, 2024 at 1:00 a.m. in Locust Valley.
 
According to detectives, officers responded to a 911 call for a house fire located at 67 1 st Street. A mattress was set on fire and the Locust Valley Fire Department responded to extinguish the flames. Defendant Lauren Gach, 32, of 67 1 st Street admitted to starting the fire and was arrested without further incident There were six residents and two staff members inside of the home and no injuries were reported at scene. The residents have been displaced and relocated to another facility.
 
Defendant Gach has been charged with Arson 2 nd degree, five (5) counts of Endangering the Welfare of an Incompetent or Physically Disabled Person 1 st degree and two (2) counts of Reckless Endangerment 2 nd degree. She will be arraigned on Friday, January 26, 2024 at First District Court, 99 Main Street, Hempstead.
