AIR QUALITY ALERT IN EFFECT FROM 11 AM TO 11 PM EDT SUNDAY The New York State Department of Environmental Conservation has issued an Air Quality Health Advisory for the following counties: Nassau, Suffolk, from 11 AM to 11 PM EDT Sunday. Air quality levels in outdoor air are predicted to be greater than an Air Quality Index value of 100 for the pollutant of Ground Level Ozone. The Air Quality Index, or AQI, was created as an easy way to correlate levels of different pollutants to one scale. The higher the AQI value, the greater the health concern. When pollution levels are elevated, the New York State Department of Health recommends that individuals consider limiting strenuous outdoor physical activity to reduce the risk of adverse health effects. People who may be especially sensitive to the effects of elevated levels of pollutants include the very young, and those with preexisting respiratory problems such as asthma or heart disease. Those with symptoms should consider consulting their personal physician. A toll free air quality hotline has been established so New York residents can stay informed on the air quality situation. Multi-Agency Raid at North Amityville Restaurant Leads to Five Arrests and Cocaine Seizure

Suffolk County Police arrested five people and seized cocaine during a Liquor inspection at Casa Bella restaurant in North Amityville.

Suffolk County Police arrested five people during a State Liquor Authority inspection at a restaurant in North Amityville last night.
 
First Precinct Crime Section, First Precinct Community Support Unit and First Precinct Patrol officers conducted a State Liquor Authority Inspection in conjunction with Town of Babylon Quality of Life Team, NYS DMV Division of Field Investigation and The New York State Liquor Authority at Casa Bella restaurant, located at 577 Broadway, at 10:43 p.m.
 
Three patrons inside the establishment were found in possession of cocaine in plain view. During the investigation, unclaimed drugs were also discovered on the floor. The manager of the restaurant was charged with Criminal Nuisance for
operating a disorderly premise, a misdemeanor. Another male was arrested for an active warrant.
 
Henry Segovia, 34, of West Babylon, the manager at the restaurant, was charged with Criminal Nuisance, a misdemeanor.
 
Selvin Garcia, 23, of North Amityville, was charged with Criminal Possession of a Controlled Substance 7th Degree, a  misdemeanor.
 
Cruz Guillen-Mejia, 39, who is undomiciled, was charged with Criminal Possession of a Controlled Substance 7th Degree and arrested for an active warrant for Trespass. Osmin Alvarenga-Hernandez, 29, of Wyandanch, was charged with Criminal
Possession of a Controlled Substance 7th Degree.
 
Helmer Alvarado, 43, of West Babylon, was arrested for an active warrant for a Vehicle and Traffic Law violation.
 
The business was shut down by the Town of Babylon. The Town of Babylon Fire Marshal and Building Inspector issued multiple summonses for code violations. The business was referred to the State Liquor Authority for further investigation. The above arrestees were issued appearance tickets and are due toappear at First District Court in Central Islip on February 23, 2024.
 
A criminal charge is an accusation. A defendant is presumed innocent until and unless proven guilty.
