Woodhaven Man Arrested in Mineola for Assaulting Officers

The Third Squad reports the arrest of a Woodhaven man for an incident that occurred on Sunday, February 2, 2025 at 6:05 pm in Mineola.
 
According to Detectives, Officers responded to a 2 nd Street residence for a domestic disturbance. Upon arrival it was determined that the defendant Alexis Aleman, 29, of 8944 97 th Street was involved in a verbal argument with family members. The situation escalated and a female resident in fear for her safety called 911. Upon police arrival the defendant fled scene on foot, but  was located nearby. Officers attempted to put the subject into custody when
the defendant displayed a knife. Officers had to utilize an Electronic Control Device (ECD), Taser, which successfully allowed them to place him into custody. One officer sustained a laceration to their hand and another officer sustained an injury to his hand, shoulder and knees during the course of the arrest and were transported to a nearby hospital. The defendant was also transported to a local area hospital for evaluation and treatment.
 
Defendant Alexis Aleman is being charged with Assault 2 nd Degree, Criminal Possession of a Weapon 4 th Degree, Menacing a Police Officer and Resisting Arrest. He will be arraigned on Monday, February 3, 2025 at First District Court 99 Main Street, Hempstead.
