Whether you need to raise capital for a family vacation or just need to pick up some extra cash here and there to supplement your existing income, some possible suggestions for attaining your goal are:
Marketing Research Focus Groups (great for supplemental income)
This is was so much fun I could hardly call it work. And the monetary compensation was outstanding ($75 for two hours). The group I worked for was called The Looking Glass. They are conveniently located in Syosset. The concept is so very simple. You fill out an application at www.tlgonline.com (click low-bandwidth HTML version. There will be a pop up window with a cat in it. Click that. You can enter my referral code when asked if you like: 6319563414) And that's it!
When the company has a focus group (a discussion about a new product; my group was about Crest Toothpaste) and they require someone with your specifications, they give you a call and ask you to come in. Their office is lovely (Accented with bright colors and antique furniture, it looks more like a model home interior than an office) and their hospitality superb (They even served lunch). They make you feel quite comfortable so there is nothing to be nervous about. I liked it so much I have been applying to other marketing research firms.
Be An "Affiliate" to other web companies (great for a part time business)
This is a great opportunity for someone with little capital to invest.
You start by registering a domain name. (ex: www.yourname.com) You do this by going to www.register.com . The fee for this ranges from Free to about $35 for 1 year.
Next you create a quick website using their "First Step Site Builder". This is template-based so, it's really quite simple. Register.com will even host your site for free.
Finally, you contact different product sites and check into their affiliate programs. This is where you place a link to their site on your site and they will pay you a percentage of sales that are placed by people that have used your link. Some recommended choices are etoys, 1-800flowers, Toys r' us, estyle, Barnes & Noble and Amazon.com, etc... You can go to www.associate-it.com. This site breaks affiliate programs down by category and by how much of a percentage you will receive by each company.
You add all the links you want to your site (you can change them as often as you like) and start watching your profit dollars fill up your mailbox in no time.
