AIR QUALITY ALERT IN EFFECT FROM 11 AM TO 11 PM EDT SUNDAY The New York State Department of Environmental Conservation has issued an Air Quality Health Advisory for the following counties: Nassau, Suffolk, from 11 AM to 11 PM EDT Sunday. Air quality levels in outdoor air are predicted to be greater than an Air Quality Index value of 100 for the pollutant of Ground Level Ozone. The Air Quality Index, or AQI, was created as an easy way to correlate levels of different pollutants to one scale. The higher the AQI value, the greater the health concern. When pollution levels are elevated, the New York State Department of Health recommends that individuals consider limiting strenuous outdoor physical activity to reduce the risk of adverse health effects. People who may be especially sensitive to the effects of elevated levels of pollutants include the very young, and those with preexisting respiratory problems such as asthma or heart disease. Those with symptoms should consider consulting their personal physician. A toll free air quality hotline has been established so New York residents can stay informed on the air quality situation. Bank Heist in Atlantic Beach: $8,000 Check Stolen, Suspects Sought in Staten Island

Fourth Squad investigates a grand larceny in Atlantic Beach where an $8,000 check was stolen and deposited into a bank account in Staten Island by two unknown suspects, prompting a call for public assistance.

The Fourth Squad reports on a Grand Larceny that occurred on Wednesday, March 15, 2023 at 12:00 PM in Atlantic Beach and was reported to Police on Thursday, July 27, 2023.
 
According to Detectives, a 69-year-old male victim went to the Atlantic Beach Post Office located at 1848 Park Street to mail a check valued at approximately $8,000 USC. On Wednesday, July 26, 2023, the victim was notified that his check was never received. The following day, on Thursday, July 27, 2023 the victim went to his local bank and was notified that the check was deposited by an unknown subject into a bank account in Staten Island. Police were notified and upon investigation a video of the unknown adult male subject taking the check from the bank was recovered. Further investigation revealed that a second unknown adult male subject was also associated with the bank account that the stolen check was deposited in. Detectives believe that the two subjects may reside in Staten Island.
 
The first subject is described as an adult male hispanic, approx. 20-25 years of age with a tall, slim build. Long black hair and black goatee with a tattoo on his right hand. Last seen wearing a blue jacket, grey/orange pants, a red shirt and white sneakers.
 
The second subject is described as an adult male hispanic, approx. 20-25 years of age with a tall, slim build. Long black hair and wearing eyeglasses. Last seen wearing black jacket and black sweatpants.
