Ruskin Moscou Faltischek, P.C. is excited to announce the launch of its Fine Art Law Practice Group, led by attorneys Adam Russ and Douglas Wasser. Both partners joined RMF following the firm’s merger with Wasser & Russ, LLP.
With decades of experience representing the world’s largest auction house, Russ and Wasser bring a deep understanding of the fine art industry. They have advised and represented a wide range of clients, including auction houses, investors, collectors, estate and trust fiduciaries, advisors, artists, and galleries. Their background covers all aspects of fine art transactions and disputes.
“The fine art world is exciting but comes with unique legal challenges,” said Adam Russ, Partner at RMF. “Our experience allows us to help clients navigate this complex and opaque space and protect their interests.”
The Fine Art Law Practice Group offers legal services in areas such as auctions, private sales, financing, valuation, consignments, litigation, and theft. The team also handles disputes involving authenticity, ownership, provenance, breach of warranty, fraud, and cultural heritage issues, both domestically and internationally.
“We’re here to support art industry participants through every stage of fine art transactions and disputes, whether they’re buying, selling, advising or facing legal challenges,” said Douglas Wasser, Partner at RMF. “We look forward to using our know-how and involvement in the space to help the fine arts community with their legal needs.”
Their particular professional histories have enabled Russ and Wasser to approach their fine art law practice as a unique partnership. Wasser brings with him over 40 years of extensive transactional and commercial real estate and general business law experience. Russ offers 30 years of sophisticated commercial litigation experience. Their combined parallel approach allows for a nimble multi-disciplinary ability to quickly and creatively get to the heart of a fine art issue.
