Queens Man Arrested in Valley Stream After Crashing Stolen Audi, Injuring Officer

The Fifth Squad reports the arrest of a Queens man for an incident that occurred on Friday, February 14, 2025 at 5:15 pm in Valley Stream.
 
According to Detectives, Officers responded to 2034 Green Acres Road for the report of an unconscious male in a blue 2023 Audi stopped in the middle of the roadway blocking traffic. Upon arrival an officer approached the vehicle and attempted to render aid when the defendant Jeffrey Cabreja, 30, abruptly stepped on the gas pedal causing his vehicle to accelerate and strike a black 2019 Jeep and his vehicle to overturn.
 
The defendant was then extricated from the vehicle by the responding officers and was transported to a local area hospital. An officer suffered a shoulder injury and was also transported to a nearby hospital for evaluation and treatment.
 
Subsequent to the investigation, it was determined that the defendant Cabreja had no authority to operate the 2023 Audi and was placed under arrest without incident.
 
Defendant Jeffrey Cabreja is charged with Driving While Ability Impaired, Assault 2nd Degree, Unauthorized Use of a Vehicle 3rd Degree, Criminal Possession of a Controlled Substance 7th Degree and multiple Vehicle and Traffic Law summonses. He will be arraigned when medically practical.
