Two People Arrested for Selling Alcohol to Underage People

Suffolk County Police yesterday arrested two people for selling alcohol products to underage people during compliance checks in the Third Precinct.
 
In response to numerous community complaints, Third Precinct Crime Section officers conducted an investigation into the sale of alcohol to underage people during which three businesses were checked for compliance with the law.
 
The following people were arrested and charged with Unlawfully Dealing with a Child 1st Degree for selling alcohol to someone under the age of 21.
 
• Richard Sherman, 69, of Holtsville, an employee of Superstar Beverage, located at 16 Lowell Ave., Islip Terrace.
 
• Zohaib Farooq, 34, of Central Islip, an employee of Bolla Market, located at 3309 Sunrise Highway, Islip Terrace.
 
Sherman and Farooq were both issued Field Appearance Tickets and are scheduled to appear in First District Court in Central Islip on a later date.
 
A criminal charge is an accusation. A defendant is presumed innocent until and unless proven guilty.
