Skeletal Remains Found on Eastern Long Island
A set of bones has been discovered on the eastern end of Long Island in the town of Manorville. Matt Samuel, a resident of the town, was walking with his dog in a wooded area when he discovered the bones. “I probably walked by it a hundred times before, and I saw it kind of sticking out of the ground, and it looked unusual. I looked a little closer and from there discovered it was human remains,” said Samuel. “It was wrapped in bed sheets and a plastic bag, it was a whole body, but just the bones, there was a tree growing up through it, so it has been there a long time,” he continued. According to Suffolk County Police, the undergrowth suggests that the body has been left there about five years ago. An anthropologist is being brought to the scene to examine the site and determine the age, gender and identity of the person, which is currently unknown. This body adds to the growing list of unsolved mysteries involving corpses and various body parts found in the town. Four bodies were found in forested area of Manorville between 2000 and 2003, two of which have never been identified. The other two bodies were those of two women who has been beheaded and dismembered. Their heads and some other body parts were discovered last spring when police searched the area while on the trail of a suspected serial killer. Suffolk County Deputy Inspector Kevin Fallon reported that is it too early to tell whether the newly discovered remains are in any way connected to the other murder cases on Long Island.
