This week’s adoptable pooch is Arthur, a gentle and loving shepherd/pit bull terrier mix that is currently in a foster home while he waits to be adopted from Last Chance Animal Rescue (LCAR).

Arthur comes with a great reputation, as he is adored by his foster family, and he is a volunteer favorite at events.  This lovable dog is a good fit for many families, as he is a sweet boy who is good with children, as well as other dogs, though he would do best in a home without cats.

According to LCAR, Arthur is a lovable and loyal companion who is quick to learn and eager to please.  He is looking for a home where he would have a yard to run around and get some exercise, and he looks forward to going for walks with his new owner, as his foster family already has him trained to walk well on a leash.

Arthur is estimated to be about three years old, and weighs about 60 pounds, which will be about as big as he will grow.  With short reddish brown fur, he is low-maintenance as far as grooming.  He is also housetrained, neutered, and up-to-date on his shots and vaccines.

If you are interested in adopting Arthur, stop by the PetSmart in Commack this Saturday from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m. to meet Arthur in person.

Last Chance Animal Rescue is a volunteer-based not-for-profit organization located out of Southampton which rescues animals from “kill” facilities – many of which are rural shelters in southern states – and underwrites the costs of relocating them to “no-kill” facilities and foster homes with the goal of adopting them into a forever family.  For information about fostering animals or volunteering with LCAR, click here.
