Dinosaurs are back and are invading Long Island. Check out these family-friendly dino-centric events that are taking place right now, just in time for Presidents Week.

Jurassic Quest

Jurassic Quest is North America’s largest and most realistic dinosaur event. Guests walk through the Cretaceous, Jurassic and Triassic Periods and experience for themselves what it was like to be among dinosaurs of all kinds. Kids can go on “The Quest” – an interactive adventure to find clues throughout the exhibit and collect a prize at the end, bounce in a dinosaur-themed bounce house, ride on the back of animatronic dinosaurs, go on a fossil dig, make crafts, and much more. Age of the Dinosaurs

The Long Island Children’s Museum

Enjoy the temporary Age of the Dinosaurs exhibit where you can experience animatronic prehistoric creatures that look, move, and make sounds as they did when they roamed the earth. Operate an animatronic T. rex using a remote control, hear two Protoceratops in Asia roar in joy while their eggs hatch, discover fossils while digging through the sand, and much more.

There are also daily live events such as the Lyle the Crocodile stage show and animal encounters, a Triceratops puppet craft and lots of other kid-friendly activities. The Long Island Children’s Museum (LICM) is open for extended hours this week, until 5 p.m. See the website for complete daily schedules. General admission, $15 per person, ages 65+ $14 per person, little ones under one are free. Timed ticketing required. First hour reserved for members only.


Dinosaurs! The Exhibit

Center for Science Teaching & Learning

1450 Tanglewood Road, Rockville Centre

 

Visit The Center for Science Teaching and Learning (CSTL), situated within Tanglewood Preserve, for Dinosaurs! The Exhibit. Dino fans of all ages will love the 40+ animatronic dinosaurs (the most robotic dinosaurs in an exhibit anywhere in the metro NY area) and hands-on activities including a dino dig. Learn about animal and dinosaur adaptations, what’s so special about each dinosaur or animal that helped it survive? Ask about their Dino Club for budding paleontologists between the ages of 7 and 12.
