Suffolk County Police arrested an employee at a Lindenhurst day care for injuring a child earlier this week.
An employee at Tutor Time of Lindenhurst, located at 41 East Sunrise Highway, injured an 18-month-old female by pushing her face into a cot on February 24.
The child was transported by private vehicle to Good Samaritan University Hospital in West Islip where she received stitches.
Child Protective Services was notified on February 28 and an investigation was initiated. Following an investigation by detectives with the Special Victims Section, the employee, Megan Marchena, was arrested on February 28 and charged with Assault 2nd Degree and Endangering the Welfare of a Child.
Marchena, 26, of Massapequa, is scheduled for arraignment today at First District Court in Central Islip.
