This photo from the East Hampton Library digital collection shows an aerial shot of the completed construction of the Stony Brook Village Center. A caption with the photo says that the upper right shows lumberyard sheds, later converted into Inner Court shops.

“Old village is in the foreground,” the caption goes on to say. “Large open area is where ‘The Block’ was located. In time, more structures in the foreground were razed or relocated to complete Mr. Melville's vision for a pleasing and well planned community for its residents.”

Photo: This is part of an exhibit in the Ward Melville Heritage Organization's archives, it was lent to the Long Island Collection at the East Hampton Library for digitization purposes, and returned to Ward Melville Heritage Organization after digitization.
