High-Speed Chase Ends in Crash: Trio Arrested with Stolen Car in East Hills

Three individuals were arrested after a stolen car chase ended in a crash in East Hills, involving a high-speed pursuit and multiple criminal charges.

The Second Squad reports the arrest of two adult males from Bayside and a male juvenile for an incident that occurred on Friday, March 8, 2024 at 1:20 AM in East Hills.
 
According to Detectives, Officers observed a grey 2017 Infiniti that was reported stolen from the Bronx on Saturday, March 2, 2024 traveling southbound on Glen Cove Road. Officers activated their lights and attempted to conduct a Vehicle and Traffic Law stop but the vehicle refused to pull over and fled scene. A short time later, Officers located the vehicle after it had struck a tree near the intersection of Glen Cove Road and Harbor Hill Road.
 
The operator of the vehicle, Defendant Kerwin Valdes, 19, was placed under arrest and transported to a nearby hospital for evaluation and treatment. The two passengers of the vehicle, Defendant Anthony Betances, 18, and a 16-year-old male juvenile were located nearby and also placed under arrest without further incident.
 
Defendant Valdes is charges with Criminal Possession of Stolen Property 3rd Degree, Criminal Possession of Stolen Property 5th Degree, Endangering the Welfare of a Child and numerous Vehicle and Traffic Law Violations. Defendant Betances is charged with Criminal Possession of Stolen Property 3rd Degree and Criminal Possession of Stolen Property 5th Degree. They will be arraigned on Saturday, March 9, 2024 in First District Court 99 Main Street, Hempstead. The male juvenile is charged with Criminal Possession of Stolen Property 3rd Degree and Criminal Possession of Stolen Property 5th Degree and will also be arraigned on Saturday, March 9, 2024 at First District Court, Adolescent Offender Part.
