St. Patrick’s Day is Monday, but kick start the holiday celebration early with end-of-the-week entertainment, including the St. Patty’s Day Leprechaun Bar Crawl in Huntington and Hofstra’s annual Irish festival! There’s also other great entertainment on the Island, including stage performances, the Islander’s hockey games and a comedy shows with the tri-state’s funniest comedians. FRIDAY – MARCH 14, 2014

Who: “The Maltese Falcon” At Tilles Center For The Performing Arts

Info: This live radio drama performance is the first in a three-part series of vintage radio plays. It will include songs like “Sentimental Journey,” “You Made Me Love You” and “I’ll Never Smile Again.” The World War II-era classic story has treasure worth killing for. Sam Spade, a shopworn private eye takes on a case that has him in search of a priceless statuette. The story also includes eccentric criminals and a gorgeous liar.

Info: It’s the first annual St. Patty’s Day Leprechaun Bar Crawl in Huntington, held by Long Island Social Events. It’s a crawl for charity, where there will be fun, drink specials, raffles for gift certificates and a costume contest. Money raised will go to benefit local charities that help Long Island families in need.  Bar Crawl participants include Honu, Mary Carrolls, Christophers, JT Carringtons, Finleys, Huntington Village Tavern and Rookies Sportsclub.

Entertainment will include The Tommy Mulvihill Band, The Black Velvet Band, Katie’s Puppets, Hirten Family Irish Dancers, and MC Tony Jackson – WRHU, 88.7 FM. Proceeds from this event go to benefit the Hofstra University Scholarship Fund.
