Student Arrested for Making a Threat of Mass Harm

Following an investigation by First Precinct Investigative Unit officers it was determined the threat is not credible.

Suffolk County Police today arrested a Copiague Middle School student for making a threat of mass harm on social media.
 
Following a 911 call from school officials, First Precinct officers responded to Copiague Middle School, located at 2650 Great Neck Road, at 6:43 a.m. after a 12-year-old male posted a picture on Instagram that showed a gun.
 
Following an investigation by First Precinct Investigative Unit officers it was determined the threat is not credible.
 
The student was arrested and charged with Making a Threat of Mass Harm. He will be arraigned on a later date.
 
A criminal charge is an accusation. A defendant is presumed innocent until and unless proven guilty.
