Suffolk County Police Arson Section detectives are investigating a fire that critically injured a woman in Bay Shore this afternoon.
Third Precinct officers responded to 106 North 1st Avenue at 12:34 p.m. after a 911 caller reported a fire at the location. Susanah Morris-Sweeting, a resident of the home, was located in the house by members of the Bay Shore Fire Department.
Morris-Sweeting, 65, was transported to South Shore University Hospital in Bay Shore before being transferred to Stony Brook University Hospital for treatment of critical injuries.
The cause of the fire is under investigation. Anyone with information on the incident is asked to contact Arson Section detectives at 631-852-6024.
A criminal charge is an accusation. A defendant is presumed innocent until and unless proven guilty.
