AIR QUALITY ALERT IN EFFECT UNTIL 11 PM EDT THIS EVENING The New York State Department of Environmental Conservation has issued an Air Quality Health Advisory for the following areas: All five boroughs of New York City, and Westchester, Rockland, Nassau, and Suffolk counties. Until 11 PM EDT this evening. Air quality levels in outdoor air are predicted to be greater than an Air Quality Index value of 100 for the pollutant of Ground Level Ozone. The New York State Department of Health recommends that individuals consider limiting strenuous outdoor physical activity to reduce the risk of adverse health effects. People who may be especially sensitive to the effects of elevated levels of pollutants include the very young, and those with preexisting respiratory problems such as asthma or heart disease. Those with symptoms should consider consulting their personal physician. A toll free air quality hotline has been established so New York residents can stay informed on the air quality situation. March 23 Conference for M/WBE Companies at SUNY College at Old Westbury

Advancing opportunities for businesses operated by women and minority owners will be the focus at a regional M/WBE conference on Wednesday, March 23, 2011 at SUNY College at Old Westbury.

SUNY College at Old Westbury, along with Farmingdale State College Small Business Development Center, will be hosting a regional conference women- and minority-owned businesses.

Scheduled for Wednesday, March 23, 2011 from 8:30 a.m.-3:00 p.m. at the Old Westbury campus, the conference will provide a venue for SUNY procurement and Nassau County based agency staff to network with M/WBE firms, enhance M/WBE vendors' awareness of procurement opportunities at the regional SUNY and other public agencies, provide education regarding the New York State M/WBE certification process, and introduce area procurement officers to a network of M/WBE firms in the region.
