Hello Long Island lacrosse players, parents, and fans. Spring is here and team practices have begun. Now that teams are beginning to gel, and lines are being created, it is time to concentrate on the actual season. As a player, you should have all ready prepared physically and mentally for the task at hand. Now, you need to make sure that you have a positive attitude through out the entire season. This means that is O.K. to make mistakes in practice (everybody does), just as long as you learn from them and get better every day. Also, don't forget to visualize every game and situation. Just close your eyes and think about what you are going to do on the field. Stay focused, have fun, and remember that the conditioning your team is doing is for your benefit.
As a fan or parent, try to be as supportive as possible of your team and please remember it is only a sport. Of course, we should never take any emotion from the great rivalry's that have been created and strengthened over the years. As long as we realize that those games should be filled with sportsmanship and respect.
Finally, you have to be confident everyday you are playing. Believe in yourself and your teammates. Try not to get down and NEVER yell negative comments at or to your teammates. Play hard, give it your best effort, and don't ever give up on a grounder, check, shoot, or anything else! Good luck to all this upcoming season and please email me at info@learnlax.com if you have any questions. Thank you for your time.
