Pedestrian Killed in North Amityville Crash

Suffolk County Police First Squad detectives are investigating a motor vehicle crash that killed a man in North Amityville this morning.
 
Richard Moffatt was driving a southbound 2021 Mazda SUV in the left lane of Broadway, near Francine Avenue, when the vehicle struck a pedestrian in the roadway at 12:13 a.m. The pedestrian, who has not yet been identified by police, was pronounced dead at the scene. Moffatt, 30, of Amityville, was not injured.
 
The vehicle was impounded for a safety check. Anyone with information is asked to call the First Squad at 631-854-8152.
