AIR QUALITY ALERT IN EFFECT UNTIL 11 PM EDT THIS EVENING An Air Quality Health Advisory remains in effect for the following counties: Nassau and Suffolk. Until 11 PM EDT this evening. Air quality levels in outdoor air are predicted to be greater than an Air Quality Index value of 100 for the pollutant of ground level ozone. The New York State Department of Health recommends that individuals consider limiting strenuous outdoor physical activity to reduce the risk of adverse health effects. People who may be especially sensitive to the effects of elevated levels of pollutants include the very young, and those with preexisting respiratory problems such as asthma or heart disease. Those with symptoms should consider consulting their personal physician. A toll free air quality hotline has been established so New York residents can stay informed on the air quality situation. The toll free number is 1 800 5 3 5, 1 3 4 5.

On Thursday, March 3, the Lombardi family helped raise over $55,000, to help fight MS, as they hosted An Evening of Dining and Dancing to benefit The Multiple Sclerosis Comprehensive Care Center at The Stony Brook University Medical Center.
The MS Comprehensive Care Center is made up of a team of international experts who are dedicated to the care and treatment of individuals with Multiple Sclerosis. In addition to receiving expert medical care, patients are offered the opportunity to participate in a range of cutting edge clinical trials and research studies. Stony Brook also offers the only pediatric MS Center in the country.
Almost 200 people gathered at Villa Lombardi's in Holbrook to show their support for this important cause. The evening consisted of dinner and dancing, as well as a live art show and auction that was presented by Lamantia Gallery of Northport. Generous donations by sponsors, including Paesana Gourmet Italian Specialties and In the Mood DJ Productions, helped to make the night a success.
The inaugural event was also an opportunity to recognize two of the nation's leading contributors to the study and treatment of Multiple Sclerosis.
Patricia Coyle, MD, is a professor of clinical neurology at Stony Brook University Medical Center. She is also the Director of the MS Comprehensive Care Center. In addition to lecturing around the country on neurologic topics, Dr. Coyle has a busy clinical and research practice and also maintains a research laboratory.
David Perlmutter, MD, FACN, ABIHM, is a board certified Neurologist and Fellow of the American College of Nutrition. He is recognized internationally as a leader in the field of nutritional influences in neurological disorders. The Lombardi family is committed to finding treatments and cures for Multiple Sclerosis. They are proud to support the Multiple Sclerosis Comprehensive Care Center at Stony Brook University and plan to make the fundraiser an annual event.
