Queens Man's Macy's Mishap: Arrested for Assault and Theft After Failed Shoplifting Attempt in Valley Stream

The Fifth Squad reports the arrest of a Queens man for an incident that occurred on Thursday, March 21, 2024 at 3:54 pm in Valley Stream.
 
According to detectives, Defendant Oswald A. Bryan, 51, of 134-34 159 th Street, Jamaica entered Macy’s located at 1000 Green Acres Road. The defendant selected various merchandise, entered the dressing room and concealed the items in a reusable bag. The defendant then attempted to pass all points of purchase and exit the store without rendering payment, but was met by Officers and Asset Protection. Officers attempted to place Bryan into custody but he attempted to flee the scene. After a brief struggle, Officers were able to secure the defendant. An Officer sustained an injury during the course of the arrest and was transported to an area hospital for evaluation and treatment.
 
Defendant Oswald A. Bryan is charged with Assault 2 nd Degree, Resisting Arrest, Obstructing Governmental Administration and Petit Larceny. He will be arraigned on Friday, March 22, 2024 at First District Court, 99 Main Street, Hempstead.
