Pedestrian Fatally Struck by Jeep on Long Island Roadway, Police Investigating

A pedestrian was killed after being hit by a Jeep on a Long Island roadway, with police currently investigating the incident.

A Long Island roadway incident where a person was hit and killed by a Jeep is under investigation by the police. The unfortunate event occurred on Sunday, April 2, just before 11 p.m. in Shirley.
 
According to the Suffolk County Police, the victim, a 37-year-old man identified as Osmin Yavani Montoya Moreno of Shirley, was crossing the road from west to east in front of 507 William Floyd Parkway when a 2011 Jeep Grand Cherokee, traveling northbound, hit him.
 
Unfortunately, the victim was pronounced dead at the scene by a physician assistant from the Office of the Suffolk County Medical Examiner.
 
The driver of the Jeep, a 33-year-old man from Mastic Beach, remained at the scene and was not harmed.
