The First Squad reports the details of an arrest for an incident that occurred on Monday, April 7, 2025 at 4:46 pm in Roosevelt.
 
According to detectives, officers were alerted of a vehicle traveling with a suspended registration. Police observed the 2019 Hyundai Elantra and initiated a Vehicle and Traffic Law stop on the entrance ramp of the Southern State Parkway at exit 20. As officers attempted to approach the vehicle, it fled eastbound on the Southern State Parkway committing multiple Vehicle and Traffic Law violations before exiting the parkway and striking a 2019 Land Rover at the intersection of W. Greenwich venue and Brookside Avenue. The vehicle then proceeded to collide with a 2002 Mercedes. Officers observed the operator of the Hyundai Elantra exit the vehicle and flee eastbound on W Greenwich Avenue. After a brief foot pursuit, officers placed Defendant Corey Jones, 29, of 2 Flax Lane, Levittown, into custody without further incident.
 
The twenty-seven-year-old female operator and one year old male passenger of the Land Rover were both transported to a local area hospital for minor injuries. No further injuries were reported.
 
During the investigation, 3 pills believed to be oxycodone Hydrochloride were recovered.
 
Defendant is charged with Criminal Possession of a Controlled Substance 7 th Degree, Aggravated Unlicensed Operation 3 rd Degree, Obstructing Governmental Administration 2 nd Degree, Resisting Arrest, Endangering Welfare of a Child, Reckless Endangerment 2 nd Degree, Leaving the Scene of an Incident with an Injury, Reckless Driving, Unlawful Fleeing of a Police Officer in a Motor Vehicle 3 rd Degree, Operating a Motor Vehicle with a Suspended Registration and numerous VTL violations. Defendant Jones is also being charged with Burglary 3 rd Degree for a Burglary that occurred on December 26, 2024 in Nassau County. He will be arraigned on Tuesday, April 8, 2025 at First District Court, 99 Main Street, Hempstead.
