East Meadow-area residents have a new full-service grocery store in town. Super Foodtown has opened at 625 Merrick Avenue, occupying what was once the space of New York Sports Club. The 15,000–square-foot store features a bakery, deli section, fresh produce, meat and seafood departments, cheeses, ready-made selections, frozen foods, pantry, and household items. 

 

The East Meadow store, which is in a strip mall that intersects with Bellmore Avenue, is the most recent addition to the Foodtown grocery retailer's footprint, which has been serving New Jersey, New York, Connecticut, and Pennsylvania for 67 years. Foodtown has other Long Island locations in Merrick, Hempstead, Hewlett, and Floral Park.
