J.P Verdisco Exercise Health and Fitness is a new, state-of-the-art Clinical Exercise Physiology Center in Selden, NY. It is the only facility of its kind in New York State that is open to the public and offers an array of physiology and membership programs.
The center's staff has extensive clinical and treatment experience in physiology, rehabilitation, prevention and control of clinical disease and general health and fitness. According to its founder James Verdisco, "Our approach is to treat the entire human body and to help decrease the onset of clinical disease. Each program is personally designed for an individual and monitored by one of our many clinical exercise physiologists."
Exercise physiology is a field devoted to examining the body's response to physical activity. Practitioners of exercise physiology evaluate human energy expenditure, human energy transfer, and environmental effects on physiology. They also study how physical activity influences the body's cardiovascular, endocrine, and musculoskeletal systems and focus on both rehabilitation and healthful training.
Because Verdisco is an exercise physiologist, he is involved with scientific research. This gives his staff a plethora of knowledge which helps to enhance athletes' strength and endurance through strength training. The center specializes in VO2 max testing, using a metabolic cart to assess the athlete's maximum physiological capacity levels. This enables Verdisco to prescribe the most advanced sport-specific program. The center also offers a range of evaluative services and numerous exercise and training programs including Cardiovascular Graded Exercise Testing, Flexibility Assessment, Massage Therapy, Outpatient Cardiovascular Rehabilitation and a variety of one-on-one training programs.
Verdisco is credited with changing the way medical professionals are looking at rehabilitation and health care control. He is well known for his ability to alleviate pain and discomfort faster than any other alternative means of treatment and has spent countless hours dedicating himself to his patients, schools, and communities, treating and educating individuals about the importance of correct physiological exercise to enhance their health and well being. He has worked extensively in the field of childhood early intervention strategies for New York State and is the first exercise physiologist to create programs to treat autistic, developmentally and behaviorally challenged children using neuro-physiological exercise programs in early intervention.
