Man Arrested for DWI and Drug Possession After Crashing into House in Massapequa

A Valley Stream man, James Wheeler, was arrested in Massapequa for DWI after hitting a residence on Denise Street with his Ford Ranger.

The Nassau County Police Department reports the arrest of a Valley Stream man that occurred on Wednesday, April 26, 2023 at 11:00 pm in Massapequa.
 
According to police, officers responded to the scene of an auto accident on Denise Street. Defendant James Wheeler, 20, 183 Horton Avenue, was operating a 2022 Ford Ranger when he struck a residence on Denise Street.
 
A thorough investigation was conducted and James Wheeler was placed under arrest without incident. He was transported by a Nassau County Police Department Ambulance to a local hospital for evaluation. Subsequent to arrest defendant Wheeler was found to be in possession of two plastic straws with a substance believed to be cocaine. No injuries or structural damage to the residence
was reported.
 
James Wheeler is charged with Driving While Intoxicated, DWAI Alcohol and Criminal Possession of a Controlled Substance 7 th Degree. Defendant Wheeler was released on an Appearance Ticket returnable to First District Court, 99 Main Street, Hempstead on Thursday, June 8, 2023.
 
The Nassau County Police Department would like to remind residents that there is a zero-tolerance policy in regards to operating a motor vehicle under the influence of alcohol and/or drugs with additional focus on operation of a motor vehicle under the influence while under 21 years of age.
