The month of May kicks off with plenty of entertainment and fun on Long Island!

Long Island is welcoming the month of May with tons of fun entertainment! This weekend, enjoy plenty of festivals, running from an orchid festival, tulip festival, to a maritime festival. There’s also Long Island Restaurant Week running through May 4th and a bar crawl in Farmingdale to celebrate Cinco De Mayo. Other entertainment includes performances from Bret Michaels, Jenny McCarthy and Doo Wop music performers. Check out the full details below!

FRIDAY – MAY 2, 2014
Who: Long Island Orchid Festival At Planting Fields Arboretum State Historic Park

Info: Enjoy the sight of orchids at this festival! There are plenty of orchid vendors and orchid growers from around the world offering talks. This festival continues through May 4th.
Cost: Free Admission, $8 Parking Per Car

Who: Bret Michaels At Mulcahy’s Pub & Concert Hall
Info: Come over to enjoy the Bret Michaels Life Rocks Tour! Michaels is an American singer-songwriter, musician, and actor. He gained fame as the lead vocalist of the metal band Poison.

Who: Long Island Restaurant Week At Over 150 Restaurants
Info: Don’t miss the remaining days to Long Island Restaurant Week, running through May 4th. Enjoy 3-course prix-fixed meals for $27.95 at over 150 restaurants.

SATURDAY – MAY 3, 2014
Who: Annual Pet Parade To Benefit SCCADV
Info: This event is hosted by the Suffolk County Coalition Against Domestic Violence. The parade begins with registration in the parking lot behind the Congregational Church of Patchogue and proceeds from East Main Street to West Main Street. Following the parade, enjoy a pet fair and awards ceremony for best and most unique dressed pets. Proceeds go to SCCADV.

Who: Drink’o De Mayo Bar Crawl - Farmingdale
Info: Celebrate Cinco De Mayo with sombreros and drink specials at participating bars in Farmingdale! This event helps raise money for charity. MoRE - Motivational Recovery Environments has teamed together with Long Island Social Events to raise money to give kids with life threatening illnesses a free week of camp to forget about their illness and just be kids.
Cost: $25 Online, $30 At The Door
Time & Place: 12PM to 6PM at participating bars in Farmingdale

Who: Jenny McCarthy’s Dirty, Sexy, Funny At The Paramount
Info:  Enjoy the presence and personality of Jenny McCarthy! Her honesty, humility and humor have brought on opportunities in comedy, acting, shows, book writing and more.

Who: Tulip Festival At Heckcher Park
Info: It’s May and the flowers are blooming - Come out to enjoy the beautiful sight of tulips! The festival also features children’s activity booths, art exhibits and live performances at the Chapin Rainbow stage. The event is presented by the Huntington Arts Council.

Who: Port Jefferson’s 3rd Annual Maritime Festival
