The Third Squad reports the arrest of a Hempstead man for an incident that occurred on Monday, April 28, 2025 at 4:50 pm in New Cassel.
 
According to detectives, officers responded to an assault at the intersection of Prospect Avenue and Grand Street. A male, 23, operating a 1995 Harley Davidson was stopped at a traffic light when an unknown male subject approached him on foot and knocked him off his motorcycle. The subject than stuck the victim numerous times, causing substantial pain, before removing his cell phone and fleeing scene. A short time later, the defendant Dester Ramirez Hernandez, 32, of 369 Jackson Street was located and placed under arrest without incident. The victim and the defendant were both transported to a nearby hospital for evaluation and treatment.
 
Defendant Dester Ramirez Hernandez is charged with Robbery 3 rd Degree, Grand Larceny 4 th Degree and Assault 3 rd Degree. He will be arraigned on Tuesday, April 29, 2025 in First District Court, 99 Main Street Hempstead.
