Dear Long Islander,
Easter and Passover have come and gone, and we’re now well into the swing of spring. With the air continuing to warm we’ll be seeing a lot of fun outdoor festivals and farmers’ markets popping up throughout the coming months, and many Long Islanders will have their own parties and celebrations to plan. Springtime means it’s the season for warm weather weddings, graduations, proms, and a whole lot more. We’re also coming up on the 3rd Annual I Love My Park Day—a real celebration of all the natural beauty that comes into bloom this season!

Arbor Day 2014: Celebrate Trees at Botanical Gardens and Nature Preserves!
Though Earth Day has passed, you can celebrate nature still on April 25th!
The first Arbor Day was created in the late 1800s and is now facilitated by The Arbor Day Foundation which promotes the planting, nurturing, and the celebration of trees. Every state celebrates Arbor Day at different times and New York celebrates Arbor Day on the last Friday of April, which turns out to be National Arbor Day as well this year. So, how do you celebrate arbor day? Donations to the Arbor Day Foundations are encouraged so they can plant trees, but you can plant trees yourself. Additionally, you can help plan a forest or park clean up to help ensure the trees can continue to grow.
