A serious vehicular accident in Franklin Square involving a Yamaha motorcycle and a Ford SUV has left the motorcyclist injured and an investigation is underway.

The Fifth Squad of Nassau County Police Department has reported the details of a serious vehicular accident that occurred on Wednesday, May 10, 2023, at approximately 2:27 PM. The accident took place at the intersection of Hempstead Turnpike and Scherer Boulevard.
 
According to detectives, a 23-year-old male was operating a Yamaha motorcycle and was traveling eastbound on Hempstead Turnpike. At the same time, a 20-year-old female was driving a Ford SUV and was traveling westbound, making a left-hand turn onto Scherer Boulevard. Unfortunately, the two vehicles collided, causing severe damage to the motorcycle and SUV.
 
The motorcyclist sustained serious injuries in the accident and was transported to a nearby hospital for treatment. The victim is currently in stable condition and is receiving medical attention for his injuries. The female driver of the SUV remained at the scene of the accident and cooperated with the authorities.
 
The cause of the accident is yet to be determined, and the investigation is still ongoing. It is not known at this time whether speed, distraction, or any other factors contributed to the accident. The detectives are still gathering evidence and witness statements to determine the exact cause of the collision.
