Women of all ages, sizes, and fitness levels are invited to have a “girls’ dirty day out” at the Muddy Princess outdoor 5km (3.1 mile) obstacle mud run on Sunday, June 4 in Riverhead. Rather than focusing on fastest times, the run emphasizes having fun in the mud while running, walking, climbing, sliding, crawling, sliding, balancing, and laughing to the finish line.

Individuals and teams are welcome, and support will be provided throughout the course to ensure everybody makes it over the obstacles and crosses the finish line at their own pace.

Participants can expect to:

  • Wade, crawl or paddle through water and mud
  • Climb ropes, nets, and tire towers
  • Traverse across balance obstacles
  • Slide, glide, shimmy, and roll down poles, small hills, and embankments
  • Move over, through, or under poles, climbing frames, and barrels

The Muddy Princess takes place at Dorothy P. Flint 4-H Camp 3186 Sound Avenue in Riverhead. Registration fees start at $69. The run begins at 8 a.m. and, for safety reasons, runners are scheduled in waves starting every 15 minutes. For more information, and to register, visit the Muddy Princess website or the event’s Facebook page.
