Planning a trip out of the United States but don’t have a passport? Get ready for your next getaway with help from Hempstead Town’s Weekend Passport Day event on Saturday, June 3 from 9 a.m. - 3 p.m. This appointment-only program at Hempstead Town Hall gives Town residents who are unable to visit the Town’s One-Stop Passport Shop during typical weekday hours, a convenient weekend date to apply for essential travel documents quickly.
The U.S. Department of State is currently taking up to 13 weeks to process a routine passport application so applying for a passport well in advance of anticipated travel date is encouraged.
To schedule an appointment or for more information, call the Office of the Town Clerk at (516) 812-3100. Prepare for your meeting by visiting the Town of Hempstead website to download a passport application and for details on the application process, required documentation such as proof of identity and citizenship, fees and accepted forms of payment. Attendees can have their passport photos taken at their appointment for a small fee.
The Passport Shop is also open weekdays by appointment only, during normal business hours with extended hours on Thursdays. The One-Stop Passport Shop is located at Hempstead Town Hall, 1 Washington Street in Hempstead.
