Gymnastics School Photo Scandal: Kings Park Man Arrested for Snapping Unauthorized Shots of Kids

Suffolk County Police have taken a Kings Park man into custody for allegedly photographing children without their permission at a gymnastics school in Smithtown. The suspect, identified as Robert Colyvas, reportedly entered the Gold Medal Gymnastics Center on April 29, between 12:40 p.m. and 1 p.m., and covertly captured images of both the staff and the children present, without obtaining consent.
 
Following a thorough investigation conducted by officers from the Fourth Precinct Crime Section, Colyvas was apprehended at his residence at approximately 8:28 p.m. It was determined that his actions posed a significant risk to the well-being of the children involved. Consequently, he was charged with Endangering the Welfare of a Child.
 
Colyvas, a 29-year-old residing at 60 Orchard Drive, now remains in custody overnight at the Fourth Precinct. His arraignment is scheduled to take place at the First District Court in Central Islip on May 17. The court proceedings will shed further light on the charges brought against him and determine the subsequent legal actions.
