Suffolk County Police Third Squad detectives are investigating a motor vehicle crash that killed a motorcyclist in Bay Shore last night.
Donald Broddick was driving a 2011 Chevrolet Suburban northbound on Richland Boulevard, when he stopped the vehicle at a stop sign at the intersection of Howells Road. As the vehicle then proceeded through the intersection, it was struck on the passenger side by a westbound 2018 Kawasaki motorcycle operated by William Thomas Burke at 6:39 p.m.
Broddick, 48, of Bay Shore, left his vehicle and performed CPR on Burke until first responders arrived. Burke, 52, of Bay Shore, was transported to South Shore University Hospital in Bay Shore, where he died from his injuries.
Both vehicles were impounded for safety checks.
