AIR QUALITY ALERT IN EFFECT FROM 11 AM TO 11 PM EDT MONDAY The New York State Department of Environmental Conservation has issued an Air Quality Health Advisory for the following counties: New York, Bronx, Kings, Queens, Richmond, Nassau, Suffolk, Westchester, Rockland, Orange, Putnam. from 11 AM to 11 PM EDT Sunday. Air quality levels in outdoor air are predicted to be greater than an Air Quality Index value of 100 for the pollutant of Ground Level Ozone. The Air Quality Index, or AQI, was created as an easy way to correlate levels of different pollutants to one scale. The higher the AQI value, the greater the health concern. When pollution levels are elevated, the New York State Department of Health recommends that individuals consider limiting strenuous outdoor physical activity to reduce the risk of adverse health effects. People who may be especially sensitive to the effects of elevated levels of pollutants include the very young, and those with preexisting respiratory problems such as asthma or heart disease. Those with symptoms should consider consulting their personal physician. A toll free air quality hotline has been established so New York residents can stay informed on the air quality situation. Roosevelt Porch Pirate Nabbed by Nassau County Police, Officials Say

The First Squad reports the arrest of a Roosevelt man for two Petit Larcenies that occurred on May 7 and 11, 2019 in Roosevelt.
 
According to Detectives, defendant Aaron Young, 36, of Roosevelt did remove a package from a porch located on Grant Street on May 7, 2019 and again on May 11, 2019 from a porch located on Beechwood Avenue. The home on Grant Street used a Ring doorbell system to record the theft and the home on Beechwood Avenue also used video surveillance. The defendant was placed into custody without incident in front of 24 Willet Place Roosevelt, however provided a false name and date of birth to the officers.
 
Defendant Aaron Young is charged with two counts of Petit Larceny, False Personation, Bail Jumping 3rd Degree and two open warrants from previous charges for Criminal Possession of a Controlled Substance and Disorderly Conduct. He was arraigned in First District Court 99 Main Street Hempstead.
