AIR QUALITY ALERT IN EFFECT FROM 11 AM TO 11 PM EDT MONDAY The New York State Department of Environmental Conservation has issued an Air Quality Health Advisory for the following counties: New York, Bronx, Kings, Queens, Richmond, Nassau, Suffolk, Westchester, Rockland, Orange, Putnam. from 11 AM to 11 PM EDT Sunday. Air quality levels in outdoor air are predicted to be greater than an Air Quality Index value of 100 for the pollutant of Ground Level Ozone. The Air Quality Index, or AQI, was created as an easy way to correlate levels of different pollutants to one scale. The higher the AQI value, the greater the health concern. When pollution levels are elevated, the New York State Department of Health recommends that individuals consider limiting strenuous outdoor physical activity to reduce the risk of adverse health effects. People who may be especially sensitive to the effects of elevated levels of pollutants include the very young, and those with preexisting respiratory problems such as asthma or heart disease. Those with symptoms should consider consulting their personal physician. A toll free air quality hotline has been established so New York residents can stay informed on the air quality situation. Melville, NY, May 20, 2011-Marcum LLP, one of the largest independent public accounting and advisory services firms in the nation and the largest firm on Long Island, announces that four additional Long Island companies have stepped up to sponsor the 2011 Marcum Workplace Challenge race for charity (www.marcumworkplacechallenge.com). With these new additions, 17 companies are now supporting this year's event, which will take place at Jones Beach July 26 and will benefit the Long Island Children's Museum, the Children's Medical Fund of New York, and Long Island Cares, Inc.-The Harry Chapin Food Bank.

Since its inception, the Marcum Workplace Challenge has raised nearly $150,000 for local charities. This is the sixth consecutive year that Marcum will be title sponsor for the annual Long Island fundraiser. Launched in 2005, the 3.5-mile Marcum Workplace Challenge is Long Island's largest participatory sporting event and "Company Picnic." It attracts thousands of participants from more than 200 companies, non-profit organizations, schools and governmental agencies and their families and friends. The event is managed by the Greater Long Island Running Club under the direction of Event Director Mindy Davidson.
