2008 Memorial Day Weekend: In More Ways Than One...
Written by veterans | 23. May 2008
I had initially planned to have a 'regular' themed Memorial Day Weekend Column. In fact, you can find one such post I put together for the Disabled Military Group on Disaboom -- a disabilities site -- at (http://tinyurl.com/6djkge). However, due to certain recent events I decided to include something a tad different this year. Therefore, with no further fanfare...
Our First President George Washington Said
"The willingness with which our young people are likely to serve in any war, no matter how justified, shall be directly proportionate to how they perceive the veterans of earlier wars were treated and appreciated by their country."

Definition Of A Veteran
A Veteran - whether active duty, retired, National Guard, or reserve - is someone who, at one point in his or her life, wrote a blank check made payable to The "United States of America," for an amount of "up to and including my life."
That is debt of honor about which far too many people in positions of authority no longer understand.
