Summer is here, which means it’s time to start getting out on the links! Long Island has tons to offer for golfers, including the world-famous Bethpage Black Course and many others. However, inexperienced golfers may have some trouble finding a course that is not too challenging. Here are a few par-3 courses on Long Island that are great for both beginners and experienced golfers.

Heartland Golf Park
Edgewood

While some golf aficionados might scoff at the idea of golfing at a park - or even at the idea of “night golf” – Heartland Golf Park does have a great par-3 course.

Each hole is designed after a famous par-3, including the No. 7 on Pebble Beach, the No. 8 on Royal Troon and the No. 10 on Winged Foot. Be prepared to lose some balls on the ninth hole, which is modeled after the No. 17 on TPC Sawgrass.

The park also has a driving range and mini-golf, so anyone looking to improve their game will benefit from going to Heartland.

Sumpwams Creek
Babylon

You won’t be using too many clubs here, but Sumpwams Creek is a beautifully kept course that's great for a 9-hole game. There a few elevated greens and some tricky obstacles, but beginners will have no trouble navigating through this course.

 The longest hole is 180 yards, so it is not recommended to bring any drivers. However, you can still improve your short game by golfing at Sumpwams.

Cedars Golf Course
Cutchogue

In July 2006, the owners of Cedars Golf Course sold the 12-acre property to the Town of Southold. While they could have sold it to real-estate developers for an approximated $400,000 per acre, they instead settled for $46,000 per acre under the condition that the property would remain a golf course forever.

After golfing this course, it’s easy to see why they made that decision. This beautifully designed course would be sorely missed by golfers on Long Island. Beginners can run through nine holes in less than an hour.
