A hugely popular way to fundraise for various charities and benefit organizations is to hold sponsored walks and/or runs. Some span only 1K (0.62 miles) while others go on for 5K (3.1 miles) and even marathon length (a whopping 26 miles and 385 yards). Participants generally pay between $20-$40 dollars to register for the race and the proceeds go to benefit various causes and charities. There are often races held prior to or during a major race for children to participate in. Children’s races are usually free or at a discounted price.
