Manhattan Man in Police Custody after Allegedly Punching Nassau County Police Medic in Face

Seventh Squad Detectives report the arrest of a Manhattan man for an Assault that occurred on Saturday, June 1, 2024 at 6:50 pm in Massapequa. 
 
According to Detectives, Officers along with a Nassau County Police Medic responded to a Riviera Drive residence for a male needing medical attention. While rendering aid, the male became violent and combative and struck the AMT in the face. Defendant Stephen Smith, 30, of 415 E. 90th Street, was subdued and placed under arrest. He was transported to a local area hospital for evaluation and treatment. 
 
The Police Medic suffered swelling, bleeding and substantial pain to his face. He was also treated at a local area hospital.
 
Defendant Stephen Smith is charged with Assault 2nd Degree. He was arraigned on Sunday, May 2, 2024 at First District Court, 99 Main Street, Hempstead.
